Some of you may be aware that Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) has called a Special Planning Board meeting, which will be held to consider the outline planning application for the proposed development on Kedleston Road. The meeting will take place on Monday 6th July at 7pm at The Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, DE5 3BT.
As preparation for this, AVBC planning officers have released a report reviewing the evidence surrounding the application. The officers conclude that the application should be refused. In light of this, the planning board will make a decision to accept or reject the outline planning application. Click here to view the officer’s report.
Kedleston Voice (KV), whilst heartened by this recommended rejection, is not taking anything for granted. Whichever way the decision goes, we will need to be prepared to take further action:
If the application is refused, Catesby will have an opportunity to appeal or re-submit the application, which will require further action from KV and its supporters.
If the application is approved, KV along with residents will need to support the “calling in” of the application by the Secretary of State and, if necessary, take action in court in order to initiate the process of judicial review. Thanks to the donations of supporters, KV has been able to engage a barrister, in preparation.
As this Special Planning Board meeting will be the first major decision point of the fight against this development, KV would encourage residents and supporters to attend the meeting so that members of the council can witness the level of concern and objection which exists.
Join us at Ripley Market Place, DE5 3BT on Monday 6th July at 6:30pm.
Getting into the meeting is not important, as the numbers allowed into the Chamber will be very limited. However, AVBC have arranged an audio system so that the debate can be heard by all.
This is a meeting just to consider the Kedleston Road application. Let’s make it count, please show your support!
