Plans to build 400 new homes on the edge of Allestree have been refused at a council meeting.
The proposals for the Kedleston Road development were turned down amid concerns of the harm the work would do to the setting of the Grade I listed Kedleston Hall.
Developer Catesby Estates made the application to Amber Valley Borough Council with the fields on the edge of Allestree in its remit.
And campaign group Kedleston Voice had objected to proposals, with representative Isobel Shorrock speaking at the special meeting of the planning board this evening.
